Etoiles Mortant

Lo folks i had an argument with a person regarding that all the armoured Etoiles Mortant in mutant chronicles supposedly being Valerie Duval.

So here are four of them who clearly aren't the same person.

Valerie Duval, she has her unique weapon and is standing between Hunter and Steiner.
Clearly another Etoiles Mortant, diffent hair colour diffrent face structure.the label says Etoiles Mortant.
Clearly yet another Etoiles Mortant (her use of the brotherhood manufactured punisher pistol reveals her as such)
 And yet another.
None of them seems to be the same.

til next time.

Sailing 'flying chariots' (my own concepts)

Lo folks again I'm going to break the tradition and do something new. the rumour is that games workshop will be unleashing a flying chariot for the high elves next month. As soon as I heard the concept I immediately thought, flying ship. I've always viewed the elves as the true engineers of the warhammer world, the empire may mix compounds and set them on fire but neither they nor the dwarfs have any real concept of science. So while the 'real' flying chariot is rumoured to be a thing drawn by an eagle I'm going down the road of my inspiration. So here is my concepts, sorry for the poor quality I've never drawn a boat before even less a flying one. Oh and since my explanation in the end is a bit rife with technical terms I've made a few wikipedia links.

My first concept is a mono hull, its probably the way I'm going to go, I know the sail wings should be much larger.

Here's the second concept, catamaran. Its assumed that the to sides have a sail between them (hard to draw from this angle), I mostly just drew this since someone said the real deal was going to be a catamaran.

The concept in bot cases is that it would use the lateen sails to propel itself forward. since any slow down would cause it to plummet square rigging isn't a good idea since any turn would bring it to almost a total stop if it tried to tack. they'd still be nearly unable to beat but that's life if you want to fly.
The lower sails would both function as a keel (which is why they are directed at 45o downwards) and as wings like a glider plane. Of course the wooden structure would still be way to heavy to be lifted by them when only propelled by the wind (since a sail boat can only move faster than the wind under ideal conditions) but that's just artistic licence.

well enough of my crappy drawings, until next time.

Are Prodos going to have legal issues over this?

Lo folk today I'm going to discuss something that isnt really my work.

Just  afew moments ago Prodos unveilved their new version of the classic warzone miniature Golgotha. the old version looked like this:

the artwork for her looked like this

Very 90's makes me think of Evil lyn from He-man so it was in dire need of an update.

and here's what they came up with.

Really awesome miniature, but as a few of you might have noticed she looks a lot like another famous sci-fi 'villainess', I like the change the question is of BLizzard entertainment will go for it

Compare

Yeah Kerrigans back spikes are more wing like (but wasnt in starcraft 1 as I recall) But bacdk spikes couples with both having some crossbreed between dreadlocks and horns growing out the back of their head smake them very similar.

So Blizzard, please dont sue Prodos we like this miniature and its not exactly the same.

Oh and a link to the Warzone resurrection kickstarter.

Til next time folks

The war never ends

Lo folks this time for something completely different.

Warzone resurrection. Some of you who did miniatures wargaming back in the 90s will remember the game of Warzone, a miniatures strategy wargame based on Targets (?) mutant chronicles.

Due to environmental impact mankind had to leave earth and massive companies funded the terraforming of the solar system, these megacoroparations then took control of mankind.

A while after settling the solar system a group of explorers travel beyond pluto and there finds the planet Nero, there they find and break the first seal unleashing the dark legion upon the universe.

the legion pits the corporations against each other then attacks them.

A great war is fought and in the end the legion is defeated a couple of centuries pass and everyone is sure the legion was a myth so they go to nero again. Wrong move, cue the same thing happening again.

This is the setting for warzone, the legion has returned, the corporations of Bauhaus (Germans/Russians) Capitol (Americans) Imperial (Brittish) Mishima (Japanese) and cybertronic (cyborgs) is at each others throats. meanwhile the brotherhood is trying to unify them (with force if nessecary) against the invading dark legion.

The setting can probably be seen as even darker than warhammer 40k but is simpler since it takes  place just a centuries into the future.

Why is this important? Well its back again, the brittish company Prodos is doing a kick starters with 30 days to go, i would highly recommend shipping in on this at least enough to get the rules pdf.

Now if you'll excuse me i have a praetorian behemoth to assemble.

The travels of Alonsus Wachtmann

Alanosus Wachtmann sipped some drink from his cup and then grimaced.

Wine he thought bitterly, that was all he could get in the border princes. Or well there was beer but after trying what the border princes passed of as beer once Alonsus had decided to stick to drinking the wine. He took another sip and grimaced again. He looked about him in the tent, a field bed stood beside the table and fold chair in which he sat. a few feet beyond that stood a chest containing most of his possessions. He hadn't bothered unpacking anything but the bottle. How long had it been since he had bothered with that? Weeks he decided. He sighed. Once he had been an imperial commander, once of the best sworn to emperor Karl Frantz of the empire of Sigmar. He had been the commander of the northern border. But as the years passed the raids and attacks over the border had waned and he had been recalled to Altdorf.

The emperor had decided to remove Alonus and most of his forces from the border, stating that the empire should use its respite from chaos attacks to solidify its situation at home.
He was to join the reiksmarshal in an invasion of the eastern provinces of Brettonia. The emperor had reasoned that due to recent troubles in Musillion to the south Brettonia would be unable to retaliate. Claiming enough of Brettonia would mean that the wastelands and Marienburg would be surrounded on all sides by the empire and would subsequently fall as well. In one swoop they would have increased imperial holding by one fifth, and be one step closer to having a unified front to show when non humans or northerners once again became a threat.
Alonsus had to agree it was a good plan but he had been stationed on the northern border since before the emperor was born and he knew full well that when chaos does something unexpected it is never good. He had tried to convince the emperor to leave his forces there and to send forces north to investigate what chaos was really up to.
The emperor had refused him, and commanded him to bring his forces back to Altdorf. Alonsus had in turn refused his emperor. The emperor had pointed out to do so was treason and then given him one night to consider his actions before being called before the emperor at court.
In front of the whole court the emperor had ordered Alonus to return his forces to Altdorf, and before the whole court he had refused. To his shock several of his officers joined him in refusing the emperor.
For this Alonsus were sent into exile, the reichsmarshal Kurt Helborg had pointed out that it was only Alonsus' long and loyal service that had saved him from hanging. The officers who supported Alonsus were given a simple choice, join their commander in exile or an early retirement. A simple choice, joining Alonus would mean leaving the empire and their families behind forever and most chose to retire. But a surprising number chose to follow their commander, mostly old veterans with grown children or even grandchildren. They had decided that rather than be a taxation on their families or sit around and watch the crops grow they would rather go on one last adventure with their commander.
And now they were here, many days march into the badlands, tracking a band of raiders who had stolen a valuable artifact from a powerful lord in the border princes. Last night they had made camp a few miles east of the ruins of karak Ekrund. Now it was close to noon, they had not yet broken camp before them stood the option of giving up or following the orcs past the marshes of madness into the deserts of Nehekhara. Not an inviting prospect, though there was stories of the riches that could be found there, there were also darker stories of the dead of the land rising up to defend it. Alonsus knew that there was some truth to this as he had once seen an attack by the ghost ships of Nehekhara upon a small hamlet in Norland. The attack had already been underway when his soldiers had reaches the besieged town, the undead had just fought on even as they were beset by Alonsus' forces but then many hours later without a warning they had simply left. The fallen undead has just turned to dust and drifted away on the breeze no sign of them ever having been there except the death and damage they had caused.
What use did he really have for gold anyway, he had never been a man with interest in riches. Then a again why was he so keen on protecting this life he had so thoroughly run into the ground. Maybe his men were right better to go out in a blaze of glory. One last charge into the face of the unnatural and evil, not for the riches but for mankind and for Sigmar.

He heard steps outside of the tent then a man lifted up the fold and stepped inside.

Commander” he greeted. The man was about the same age as Alonsus, his name was Hans Echter and he had served under Alonsus as long as he could remember. He was one who had said that he didn't want to sit around and watch the crops grow while elsewhere other fought and died for Sigmar.

Captain” Alonsus responded setting his cup aside and waiting.

Commander...there is something you need to see”

And I have a camera again

Lo folks, I have my camera again, time for an update

First of some good shot of my order of the lion space marines (now that i cna get the colors to come out somewhat good.
The guy with the plasma cannon up front

Same guy from the side
I went for light blue plasma since I felt I contrasted well against the dark purple.

The Ravenwing champion from the side
I'm going to repaint the heraldry symbols white some time instead of gold, makes them looks to much like pre heresy EC

 And again
You can see the heraldry I'm talking about centre shot here

 My Cultist champion
I initially painted his coat green (i relaised that beige wouldnt work) then rememebred tat comissiars have black coats, i considered redoing it in black but then I realised I don't know how to paint black very well so in the end i kept the green paint and washed him 5 times with black wash.

Same guy from behind, I think the coat turned out pretty well in the end.
Also keeps in line with the colour scheme. but i painted this guy a while ago, so lets see something new

Hello chaos terminators (I'm not really satisfied with how chaos they are but they'll do for now)
Here's the one with assault cannon or well now its a reaper autocannon, i already showed you these guys unpainted i think they look a lot better now even in the cases I'm not satisfied with the conversion work. Face on the weapon, added chaos shoulder pad on top of his own and head swap.

And a regular (for space marines that is) stormbolter powerfist one
 Headswap and chaos shoulder pad

And the chainfist guy (cna csm even have chain fists? maybe i should check that out) Standign over the head of a word bearer.
I originally thought about having it be a world eater, but then I realised I had never seen a world eater with that kind of horns so I decided on word bearer.
Head swap and chaos shoulderpad.

 the champion
I did a mistake while painting this guy i painted the area to the left of his head in silver drawing attention to the roughness left behind from removing his original head.
I still cant paint robes but it came out somewhat ok.

And that's all for today, likely next update will be cultists.

Obitiel, the Angel of reaping

Here's a little piece if fiction i've been working on enjoy:

Obitiel is probably one of the oldest mortal beings alive in the galaxy, he was one of the first of the current era space marines the emperor created after the primarchs was lost, one of the first members of the first legion. He commanded soldiers in the Emperor's name during the unification on Terra and helped wipe out the thunder warriors when their time came.
When the great crusade departed he stood proudly amongst the finest officers of the fist legion.
When the emperor discovered Caliban, and was reunited with Lion el'Johnsson, Obitiel was one of the first to kneel before their primarch, it is said there were tears rolling down his face as he did so, finally the first and greatest primarch had been found, now finally the dark angels would be given the place they rightly deserved. Or so he thought, but the lion insisted that Obitiel and many of the space marines that had followed the emperor from Terra would remain behind on Caliban to train the next generation of initiates, the lion figured that the oldest wisest and best must make sure the knowledge they had gained be preserved.
Those left behind didn't see it them same way, they felt that the lion had set them, who had conquered the galaxy for centuries in the name of the emperor, aside in favour for his new recruits who had followed him on Caliban.
The resentment grew and when Luther rebelled against the lion Obitiel was one of the first to swear him fealty. But as we all know Luther's rebellion failed and the fallen, as Luther's followers would come to be called, was scattered though time and space.
Obitiel however was merely scattered though space. He found himself on a backwards world at the western fringe of the galaxy and it is believed he spend several centuries there before being discovered by humans. A rogue trader by the name of Venator Dedicatus found him and rescued him, a favour which Obitiel rewarded by beating down the trader and stealing his ship leaving him stranded on the planet in return.
He had probably intended for the rogue trader to stay lost forever but he underestimated the resourcefulness of Venator Dedicatus, who from debris that had been deposited on the planet by the same warp storm that had brought the fallen there constructed a beacon to signal his plight.
Those who picked him up were members of the dark angels chapter (although chapter records are very vague on which company rescued him). While he knew to much of their secret the dark angels saw much of themselves in the trader so instead of killing him they enrolled him, he would be their eyes and ears looking out for fallen, in particular Obitiel (once again quite who made this decision seems to be mystery).
He never knew the full truth of who he hunted only that it was a space marine that somehow had crossed the dark angels. And hunted he did, from that day until his death nearly a century later (the time dilation of warp travel accounts for Venator's long life) he hunted Obitiel, from one side of the galaxy to the other. Finally Venator and his dark angels allies tracked Obitiel to the mining world Sempura Secundus where he gave his life caving in the mining complex to destroy the fallen (chapter record hold that no less than three fallen where hiding out in the tunnel complexes of the hollowed out planet, though it fails to specify any of them apart from Obitiel).
His story is one told to recruits of the dark angels chapters to remind them that if a mere man can have the will to do what must be done so must they when they one day become space marines.
It was generally believed that Obitiel had been destroyed on Sempura Secundus but roughly one thousand five hundred years later (early m.33) he reappeared convincing several systems in the Segnetrum Obscuras to rebel against the Imperium. The angels of Absolution chapter of the unforgiven tracked him down and while they failed to take him alive back to the rock they claimed to have seen his dead body.
There is an unconfirmed sighting of this fallen during Abbaddon the despoiler's attack el'phanor, but it was later dismissed at the urgings of the grand master of the angels of Absolution.
The angels of Absolution would however need to take back those words when he was once again spotted by members of the the Consecrators Ravenwing in m38 fighting in the 9th black crusade of Abbaddon. When imperial forces reclaim the Antecanis system the Consecrators make battle upon dark armoured and robed space marines led by a man who claimed to be Obitiel. While the ship he probably was on was destroyed by the unforgiven, the Consecrators spends an additional fifty years in the sector officially protecting the system while it rebuilds, unofficially searching for the fallen. In the end they give up and report and unconfirmed kill to the tower of angels.
Obitiel reappeared in the years leading up to the Gothic war committing several planet wide genocides all dedicated to the chaos god Nurgle to whom he appears to have sold his soul. When the unforgiven arrive he is already gone but captured cultists claim that he has been gifted with the ability to steal life from living beings by touching them.
From what is extracted from the cultists it appears that the ancient space marine has found a way to prolong his life. It does however suffer diminished returns, lasting less and less the more he does it. This way he is always kept spreading fear and despair amongst the humans of the galaxy, feeding the god Nurgle with their despair, while himself being freed from the direct fear of death, but kept in a perpetual state of dreading it.
Several similar genocides are reported in the years following the gothic war, but Obitiel's presence is never confirmed. Obitiel's warband has assumed the name the Angels of Reaping.
Obitiel yet to this day stands unaccounted for, he is to be considered extremely dangerous for Obitiel has be granted the true aspect of angel of death by his dark god. Obitiel is one of only a few fallen that it has been decided by the greater circle of the unforgiven that there should be no attempts to take alive. He is to be killed at sight and his body recovered and destroyed.

And that's it for today.
